What the Queen of Sheba wants, the Queen of Sheba gets!

If you’ve ever experienced a good story, you know that it starts with a character who has a problem or something that he/she wants really badly.  The story follows the character’s journey to overcoming his/her obstacles and then getting what it is that he/she wants.

Now, I think you all may be just a wee bit tired of listening to me talk all the time.  What’s that I heard?  “No, Heba, I could listen to you talk forever and ever !”  Oh, you didn’t say anything?  …It must have been my husband’s well-rehearsed line? :)

So, it’s time to get interactive:

Step 1:  I want you to think of 5 things that you really, really, want.  Not to give you any ideas, but maybe a new house, a signed copy of Heba Alshareef’s upcoming book, a vacation.  Whatever you want, list them in your journal.

The items I want:

Item 1:

Item 2:

Item 3:

Item 4:

Item 5:

Good stuff!

Now, look back at that list and think about what it is that you’re really after.

Step Two:  Without fail, when people list the things that they want – it’s not the actual thing that they want, but it’s the feeling that is associated with the particular item.

Next, I want you to answer:

When I have item 1, I will feel _________________

When I have item 2, I will feel _________________

When I have item 3, I will feel _________________

When I have item 4, I will feel _________________

When I have item 5, I will feel _________________

Now, what if I were to tell you that the external ‘items’ you seek, may not have the power to give you the ‘internal’ results you really, really want.

What do you make of it?

I’m not saying don’t strive for the items on your list, I’m asking you to look at the states of being and ask:

How might I achieve those now?

I hope that your story is a good one.  I love happy endings!

And keep coming back for more and more happy endings…

This post reminds me so much of brother Muhammad’s Power webinar ‘Drive Your life’….I must say that since ive listened to it….my list has got some quite extraordinary goals in it….I try to aim at the outstanding rather then the good inshallah….it seems pretty hard sometimes to strive towards those goals but Allah is there and He is the Most Powerful and the Most Merciful….I must say that where there is a will, there is definitely a way….whether its for this life or the Hereafter….if we have faith in Allah, we will be there….so keep dreaming big people….it can happen inshallah….

    Bismillah

ooooo..that last question is worth a ton right there… The realization of “what if I seek after something, and it doesn’t give me what I want to feel..”

I liek how you phrased that: how can I get that feeling NOW instead of later.

Very nice. Something to think about :)

good call. one thing we all seek is fulfillment. alhamdulillah there are so many things we can always do in the here and now to attain fulfillment and yet still feel the drive to fulfill our dreams! like shaykh muhammad said, you have to learn to love what you’re doing now as well as yearn to achieve your goals. dont be call sad cause you’re not there yet, every stage has its blessings!
